Change Factory Headlamp Wig-Wag Patterns on Your 2020–2024 Ford Police Interceptor Utility
Share
The factory Headlamp Wig-Wag feature allows the high-beam headlamps to flash alternately in a left-right pattern. On 2020–2024 Ford Police Interceptor Utility models, the Headlamp Control Module (HCM) provides three factory Wig-Wag flash patterns, plus an option to disable the feature.
If you are not familiar with FORScan programming, please review our FORScan Software Setup and Programming Guide before continuing.
What You’ll Need
- A Windows laptop with FORScan installed and activated
- A compatible OBD-II programming adapter
- Your vehicle safely parked with the ignition switched on
- A backup of your original HCM As-Built configuration
Enable/Disable/Change Factory Headlamp Wig-Wag Patterns
- Open FORScan and select the Configuration and Programming section.
- Locate and open HCM Module Configuration (As-Built Format).
-
Make the following change to the specified value. Leave all other characters unchanged.
Module Address Value Change To HCM — Headlamp Control Module 734-01-01xxxx-xxxx-XXxx00— DisabledHCM — Headlamp Control Module 734-01-01xxxx-xxxx-XXxx21— Pattern 1HCM — Headlamp Control Module 734-01-01xxxx-xxxx-XXxx22— Pattern 2HCM — Headlamp Control Module 734-01-01xxxx-xxxx-XXxx23— Pattern 3 - Select Write All to save the updated HCM configuration. Follow the on-screen prompts, then cycle the ignition power as instructed by FORScan. Continue following the safe programming and disconnect procedures in our FORScan Software Setup and Programming Guide.
Note: Select only one option from the table. The two uppercase X characters identify the factory Wig-Wag pattern setting. Do not change any other characters in the value. If your current value is different or you are unsure which configuration is installed on your vehicle, do not make a change until you have confirmed the existing configuration. Contact us if you need assistance.
Verify the Wig-Wag Function
After the programming process and ignition cycle are complete, activate the vehicle’s factory Wig-Wag function using the applicable vehicle control.
Confirm that the high-beam headlamps alternate flashing in the selected pattern. If the feature does not activate, recheck the HCM configuration, confirm the selected pattern was written correctly, and verify that the vehicle’s factory emergency-equipment controls are configured to command the function.
Important Note
Factory Wig-Wag operation and control activation may vary by vehicle equipment, upfitter configuration, body wiring, and local regulations. Use emergency-style lighting only where it is lawful and appropriate; do not use it to imitate an emergency vehicle or obtain right-of-way.
